Jason Jones, who hails from Tuscaloosa and played as a defensive back for the Crimson Tide, has returned to his alma mater as the new assistant defensive backs coach. Jones’ coaching career started as a graduate assistant at Alabama under Mike Shula in 2003-04. He then moved on to various roles at Tulsa, Rice, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, FAU, Indiana, and most recently, North Carolina. During his tenure at North Carolina, the Tar Heels' defensive backs recorded nine interceptions and 37 pass deflections in the 2024 season.
