Unlocking the Potential of Aynor's Volleyball Powerhouse
Conquering the Region with Unwavering Determination
The Aynor High School girls volleyball team has been a force to be reckoned with this season, dominating their Region V-3A opponents. Finishing the regular season with an impressive 10-1 record, including a crucial victory in a region tiebreaker match over Waccamaw, the Blue Jackets have set the stage for a thrilling playoff campaign. Head coach Jeremy Cook attributes the team's success to their commitment to a more rigorous training regimen and the players' unwavering buy-in to the program's goals. "We have done a great job. We played a bit of a harder schedule this year to prepare us for these games," Cook said. "We have had full buy-in… We set our goals, and one of those goals was to win our region, because that hadn't been done, outright, in I think ten years at Aynor. We made our practices a little bit more intense this year, and they accepted it fully and with good attitudes. They came in ready to work every day."Earning the Top Seed and a Familiar Foe
As a result of their first-place finish in the region, the Blue Jackets have secured the No. 1 overall seed in the Lower State playoffs, which will commence on Wednesday, October 30. Aynor will open their postseason campaign against a familiar opponent, Georgetown, who finished sixth in the region. The Blue Jackets have already dominated the Bulldogs in regular-season play, winning both matchups 3-0. "When Lainey is on her game, she can take over the game," Cook said, referring to the team's standout junior, Lainey Johnson, who was named the Region Player of the Year in 2023 and is a top contender for the honor again this year. "She is one of the best players in the state hitting from the outside… When Phoebe gets the ball up to Lainey and sets it good, there's no question about it."Depth and Balance Fuel Aynor's Success
Aynor's success this season has not been solely dependent on its star players. The team has also benefited from the contributions of a pair of talented freshmen, Ava Tyler and Emmy Dorman, who have been critical to the Blue Jackets' lineup. Alongside the leadership of seniors Alaina Brown and Hannah Lewis, this well-rounded roster has proven to be a formidable opponent for any team they face.Loris Lions Seek Playoff Glory

The Lions will host Swansea in a Thursday evening matchup, hoping to extend their season and make a statement of their own.Horry County's Volleyball Landscape Comes Alive
