Baylor's Second - Half Surge Secures a Resounding Win

Early Game Advantage

The Bears hit their first 10 shots from the field, setting the tone for the game. They led 12 - 3 before ACU managed to cut the advantage to 12 - 9 with Leonardo Bettiol's bucket at the 13:52 mark of the first half. However, Baylor's offensive firepower was too much to handle as they outscored ACU 17 - 4 over the next five minutes, taking a 29 - 13 lead with 8:33 left in the first half. V.J. Edgecombe was particularly dominant during this run, scoring the final five points, including a fast-break dunk and a free throw that forced ACU to take a timeout.

This early lead gave Baylor a significant advantage and set the stage for a one - sided second half.

Second - Half Blowout

After trailing by 24 points at halftime, ACU made a valiant effort to cut the Baylor lead. Nasir Degruy's jumper with 15:39 left brought the score to 54 - 37, forcing a timeout by Baylor. But from that point on, the game belonged to the Bears as they finished the game on a 34 - 20 run to pull away from the Wildcats.

Baylor's offensive rhythm remained intact, with players like Jayden Nunn, Norchad Omier, V.J. Edgecombe, Josh Ojianwuna, and Langston Love all contributing significantly. Nunn led the way with 18 points, hitting 7 of 12 from the field and 4 of 4 from 3 - point range. Omier had 15 points and six rebounds, while Edgecombe scored 14 points and six rebounds. Ojianwuna scored 13 and picked up eight rebounds, and Love contributed 10 points.

ACU's Performance

Bettiol led the Wildcats with 16 points, his sixth straight game with at least that many points. He was 5 of 9 from the floor and 6 of 8 at the free throw line. Quion Williams was the only other Wildcat in double figures with 10 points, adding three rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Despite their best efforts, ACU was unable to overcome Baylor's dominant performance and fell to 6 - 4 on the season. The Wildcats will now return to Moody Coliseum this Saturday after six straight road contests and host Hardin - Simmons at 6 p.m.
