Vedovelli primarily competed at the No. 6 singles spot and No. 2 doubles position, showcasing his versatility and ability to contribute to the team's success. His impressive 10-1 doubles record last spring, including a 9-1 mark at the No. 2 spot, demonstrates his prowess on the court.Promising Newcomer with International Pedigree
Joining Vedovelli is Esteban Ortiz, a freshman hailing from La Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland. Ortiz graduated from Gymnase de Bienne et du Jura bernois in Biel, Switzerland, and has trained at the prestigious Swiss Tennis Academy for six years. His experience on the ITF Junior Tour, where he reached three different doubles finals between August 2022 and September 2023, showcases his potential and dedication to the sport.Coaching Excitement and High Expectations
Coach Cero is thrilled to welcome both Vedovelli and Ortiz to the Belmont Bruins family. "I'm very excited for Stefan to join the Bruin family this winter, and I know he is as excited to get to work and compete alongside the guys," remarked Cero. "He brings a lot to the table, and no doubt, he'll have a big impact on the team as a whole." Regarding Ortiz, Cero expressed, "When I first met Esteban, it was very clear that he knew how to work hard and respect the process that it takes to be a great player. I know that will lead Esteban to great things while he is at Belmont, and I'm excited for him to step on the court this spring."Continuing a Tradition of Excellence
The Belmont Bruins men's tennis team has established a strong track record of success, having captured the Horizon League South Division title in each of their first two years in the league. The team has won three consecutive conference regular season championships and holds a 19-match win streak in conference matches dating back to the 2022 season. For seven consecutive seasons, the Bruins have posted a winning record, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the collegiate tennis landscape.Preparing for a Challenging Spring Season
The Bruins' 2025 campaign is set to begin on Saturday, January 11, with a highly anticipated matchup against nationally-ranked Tennessee.
