High School Varsity and Junior Varsity

In South Dakota, the spring high school baseball season is often short due to weather. This year, much of April was lost to rainouts, leaving teams scrambling to play enough games to qualify for the postseason. As a result, I have fewer photos from the spring than usual. But the memories and moments captured in those few photos are truly special. The energy and excitement on the field during these games are palpable, and it's a joy to be able to document them.The players' determination and passion shine through in every swing and catch. Whether it's a close call at home plate or a dramatic home run, these moments are etched in the memories of both the players and the fans. It's amazing to see how baseball brings people together and creates lasting memories.

American Legion Varsity

American Legion baseball has a rich history in South Dakota, dating back 100 years. The Huron area alone has three levels of Legion baseball, each with its own unique charm. This summer, I had the opportunity to cover two of these levels and capture some amazing moments.The 16U team was particularly impressive, with their skill and teamwork on full display. From the intense practices to the thrilling games, every aspect of their baseball journey was worth documenting. These young athletes are the future of the sport, and it's exciting to be able to follow their progress.

For many, their connection with baseball starts at the high school, American Legion, or even younger levels. As a co-director of IBWAA and an editor of "Here’s the Pitch", I have the privilege of covering local baseball through both stories and photography. These photos allow us to share the beauty and excitement of the game with a wider audience.Each photo tells a story, whether it's a player's determination, a team's unity, or a moment of pure joy. They capture the essence of baseball and the love that players and fans have for the sport.
