Big 12 Basketball: Power Rankings Heading into Conference Play

The Big 12 basketball season is in full swing, with teams gearing up for the crucial non-conference play. The conference schedule kicks off on December 30, featuring an impressive 20 games for the first time. Currently, the Big 12 holds the No. 3 position in the KenPom metrics, closely trailing the Big Ten for the No. 2 spot. There is a significant gap between the Big 12 and the SEC, as all 16 SEC teams are ranked within the top 68 of the KenPom ratings.
Top Six Power Rankings Remain Steady
The top six spots in the weekly power rankings have remained unchanged, but there has been some movement in the middle. Arizona State suffered a blowout loss to undefeated Florida in Atlanta last week, causing the biggest shakeup this week. This week, there are several intriguing non-conference matchups, including K-State hosting Drake, Cincinnati taking on Dayton in an in-state Top 25 clash, and Utah traveling to South Dakota to face Iowa.Week Seven Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings
Take a look at the week seven Big 12 basketball power rankings. In the previous power rankings, we saw Iowa State maintain its No. 1 position. Last week, they had impressive road wins against Iowa and Nebraska Omaha. This week, they face Morgan State on Sunday. Kansas also remained in the top two, with a win over N.C. State. Houston continued to perform well, with victories over Troy and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Baylor had strong wins against Abilene Christian and Norfolk State. West Virginia had wins over NC Central and Bethune Cookman. Cincinnati held onto the No. 6 spot with a close win over Xavier. Texas Tech moved up one spot to No. 8 with a win over Oral Roberts. BYU climbed three spots to No. 11 with wins over Fresno State and Wyoming. Colorado moved up one spot to No. 10 with a win over South Dakota State. Arizona State dropped three spots to No. 10 after their loss to Florida. Arizona slipped two spots to No. 11 with a loss to UCLA. UCF moved up one spot to No. 13 with a win over Tulsa. Utah climbed one spot to No. 14 with a win over Radford. Oklahoma State moved up two spots to No. 12 with a loss to Oklahoma. TCU remained at No. 15 with a win over South Alabama.
