First Workshop: Budgeting 101
On Tuesday, IET, in collaboration with Northern Communities Credit Union, hosted its inaugural workshop at the Damiano Center. The theme centered around "Budgeting 101," where attendees were equipped with basic finance skills and resources to enhance their budgeting abilities. Carla Hamilton, the Assistant Coordinator of IET, expressed her excitement about being a source of help within the community. She emphasized that their organization is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the community, stating, "Our organization is changing and growing depending on the needs of our community. We really want to get in there and let people know that you’re not the problem, the systems are the problem."This isn't just about group workshops; IET also works closely with individuals on a one-on-one basis. Tiffany Fenner, another integral part of the non-profit, highlighted the importance of providing a personal touch. She said, "We’re holding the space, making the phone calls, helping them do their paperwork. It's about being there for them every step of the way."Future Plans and Continued Impact
The non-profit has big plans ahead. It intends to host more workshops and maintain its face-to-face interactions with the community. By doing so, it aims to make a lasting impact and empower more individuals. IET's office is conveniently located at 310 N 1st Ave W in Duluth, making it easily accessible for those seeking assistance. To get more information about IET's resources or to get involved, simply click here.
