Two standout athletes from Campbell County High School are set to bolster the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets football program. Trent Rosenau and Patrick Lynch have committed to join the team, bringing with them a wealth of experience and accolades. Rosenau, an exceptional running back, earned 4A All-State honors in consecutive years for his remarkable performances on the field. Meanwhile, Lynch has excelled as a defensive player, securing significant recognition at both state and conference levels.
Trent Rosenau's contributions to Campbell County’s offense over the past two seasons have been nothing short of impressive. As a dominant force on the gridiron, he accumulated over 2,000 rushing yards across these campaigns. In the most recent season alone, Rosenau showcased his prowess by carrying the ball 170 times for 1,001 yards and scoring eight touchdowns. Notably, he demonstrated his ability in high-pressure situations with standout games against Thunder Basin and Laramie, where he surpassed the 150-yard mark. The previous year was equally fruitful, as he amassed 1,107 rushing yards and scored 15 touchdowns. Beyond football, Rosenau also made waves in track and field, qualifying for the 4A State Indoor Track Meet in 2024.
Patrick Lynch, on the other hand, distinguished himself through his defensive skills. During the 2024 season, Lynch anchored the secondary with 60 tackles, including a fumble recovery and an interception. His best performance came against Thunder Basin, where he recorded seven tackles. This achievement earned him a spot on the 4A All-State team. In 2023, Lynch further solidified his reputation with 33 tackles, three sacks, and an interception, earning him an All-Conference selection. Additionally, Lynch displayed versatility by returning a punt for a touchdown during that season. Outside of football, Lynch serves as the goalkeeper for Campbell County’s soccer team, contributing significantly with 30 saves this season while maintaining an impressive record.
Black Hills State, a Division II institution competing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, stands to benefit greatly from the talents of these two athletes. Their commitment not only strengthens the Yellow Jackets' roster but also highlights the school's growing appeal to multi-talented student-athletes. With Rosenau’s explosive offensive capabilities and Lynch’s formidable defensive presence, the future looks promising for the Black Hills State football program.
