Boise State Unveils 2025 Men's Tennis Spring Schedule

On Wednesday afternoon in Boise, Idaho, Boise State Athletics made a significant announcement by releasing the 2025 men's tennis spring schedule. This schedule showcases an exciting lineup of 26 matches, filled with various challenges and opportunities. The team is set to face three Big Ten schools, including a match against the 2022 and 2023 national champion Virginia. Additionally, they will engage in typical regional competitions, and depending on the results, they could potentially face nine teams that advanced to the NCAA National Team Championship tournament in 2024.

Defending Mountain West Champions' Journey

The two-time defending Mountain West Champion Boise State Broncos kick off the spring season with a hidden dual competition at Illinois from January 18th to 20th. In the second week, they travel to the ITA Kickoff tournament's Virginia bracket in Charlotteville. Here, they will face the Cavaliers in the opening round on January 25th and then either Alabama or VCU on the second day. A bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship at Waco, Texas, is at stake. Last year at the ITA Kickoff, the Broncos had a mixed result, going 1-1 by losing to then-No. 1 Ohio State but then regrouping to beat Oregon in the consolation bracket.Boise State then returns home for a three-match homestand starting on Friday, January 31st. They will take on the Big Sky Conference's Eastern Washington Eagles and Idaho State Bengals in a doubleheader. The homestand will conclude on February 9th when they host the Michigan State Spartans from the Big Ten Conference. Last year, the Blue and Orange had a combined 3-2 record against these three teams, winning twice against EWU and once against ISU while losing twice to MSU.If the Broncos win their ITA Kickoff Weekend bracket in Virginia, they will qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Waco, Texas, from February 15th to 17th. However, if they do not win their bracket in Charlottesville, they will travel to Wichita, Kansas, to face Wichita State on February 14th and Denver on February 16th. Boise State has not faced Wichita State since 2011 and lost at Denver in 2024.On February 19th, the Blue and Orange will host the Indiana Hoosiers, the second Big Ten team of the season. The two teams met last year in Bloomington, Indiana, where the Hoosiers emerged victorious with a 4-1 score.Boise State then hits the road from February 21st to 23rd, traveling to Purdue, the third Big Ten team, on the 21st and then to Princeton in New Jersey on the 23rd. Last spring, the Broncos defeated Purdue 6-1 in Boise. They have only faced Princeton once before, losing 4-1 at the Blue-Gray Classic in 2017.The Blue and Orange will compete at the 2025 Arizona State Diablo College Tennis Invitational from February 28th to March 2nd in Tempe, Arizona. The field for this tournament is not yet completely set. Last year, the Broncos had a 1-2 record at this tournament, winning against No. 51 Liberty 4-3 but losing to No. 23 Arizona State 4-3 and No. 30 VCU 4-2.March 7th will see the second home doubleheader of the season as Boise State hosts Lewis-Clark State and Montana State. In 2024, the Broncos defeated LCSC 7-0 in Boise. They last played Montana State in 2022 and emerged victorious with a 4-3 home win.The Boise State Spring Fling makes a comeback for the second year in a row from March 14th to 15th. This year's version will be a four-team round-robin featuring Sacramento State, Montana State, and Kennesaw State.Nonconference play concludes from March 17th to 19th as the Blue and Orange travel to California to face the Santa Clara Broncos on the 17th and then at Cal Poly on the 19th. The last time Boise State faced Santa Clara was a 4-3 win in Boise in 2018, and they defeated Cal Poly 6-1 in Boise last spring.Conference play begins at home on March 28th when the Utah State Aggies come to town. The two teams split a pair of matches in 2024, with the home team winning both.Boise State will then travel to UNLV and San Diego State from April 4th to 6th. Last year, the Broncos swept both teams, going a combined 3-0. They defeated SDSU twice, with the last win coming in the MW Championship final when they won 4-1.The regular season will close with a two-match homestand from April 17th to 19th against Air Force and New Mexico. The Blue and Orange defeated both teams on the road during the 2024 regular season and again at the MW tournament in Las Vegas on their way to back-to-back championships.This year's MW Championship returns to Las Vegas from April 23rd to 25th.
