After high school, he continued his basketball career at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he thrived academically and athletically, earning multiple selections to the Atlantic-10 All-Defensive Team.

Babul's coaching career was equally illustrious. He started by leading the JV team at Seekonk High and later joined the Long Island Nets as an assistant coach.
