Celebrity Cruises Invites Travelers to Co-Create Dream Ship Experience
2025-01-23

In an innovative move, Celebrity Cruises has launched a unique initiative called "Dream Makers," inviting travelers to help design the ultimate cruise experience on its newest Edge Series ship, Celebrity Xcel. Set to debut in November 2025, this vessel will feature guest-driven innovations in dining, entertainment, and design. Through online polls and exclusive events, participants can influence key aspects of the ship's offerings, from interior design elements to culinary experiences and entertainment options. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that guests are fully engaged in crafting their ideal vacation. Additionally, the ship is making strides in sustainability with its tri-fuel capable engine, aligning with the company’s long-term environmental goals.

Guests Shape the Future of Celebrity Xcel

In a bold step towards passenger-centric design, Celebrity Cruises has introduced the "Dream Makers" program, allowing future cruisers to have a say in the development of Celebrity Xcel. Scheduled for launch in the fall of 2025, this state-of-the-art ship promises to revolutionize cruising by incorporating feedback from those who will enjoy it most. Participants in the Dream Makers initiative can provide input on various elements, including selecting textiles and managing design elements for the ship's interiors. They can also choose signature dishes, beverages, table settings, and dining concepts for the onboard restaurants. Furthermore, they can recommend headline shows, curate costumes and props, and select music playlists for the entertainment venues.

Michael Scheiner, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Celebrity Cruises, emphasized the importance of involving guests in the creation process. “By engaging our future passengers, we can perfect every detail of Celebrity Xcel to ensure it meets their highest expectations,” he stated. The ship recently achieved a significant milestone by floating out of dry dock in France, signaling the completion of its exterior. It will be equipped with a tri-fuel capable engine, supporting the company's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Moreover, Royal Caribbean Group has signed a deal for a sixth Edge-class ship, set for delivery in 2028, which will also feature methanol-capable engines.

Celebrity Xcel will embark on its inaugural season from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offering 7-night Caribbean cruises to destinations like the Bahamas, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands. In the summer of 2026, the ship will reposition to Europe for Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Athens, including overnight stays in Madeira, Portugal.

From a reader’s perspective, this initiative sets a new standard in customer engagement within the cruise industry. By involving travelers in the design and development process, Celebrity Cruises not only ensures that the final product aligns perfectly with guest preferences but also fosters a sense of ownership and excitement among potential cruisers. This level of involvement could lead to more satisfied customers and increased loyalty, ultimately benefiting both the company and its guests.
