Chase Wilson Joins West Virginia Football for 2025 Season
2025-01-11

The Mountaineers football program has welcomed a seasoned linebacker, Chase Wilson, who will be joining the team as a sixth-year senior for the upcoming 2025 season. Wilson made his decision official via social media on Friday evening, bringing an experienced defensive player to the roster. Having spent time at Colorado State, Wilson's addition is expected to bolster West Virginia's defense with his proven track record on the field.

Wilson's journey in college football began when he transferred to Colorado State in 2020. Over his first two seasons there, he saw limited playing time, participating in only five games. However, his breakthrough came during his redshirt freshman year in 2022, where he played in all twelve matches and recorded 29 tackles. This performance earned him a starting position, which he held firmly over the next two years. During this period, he demonstrated exceptional skill, accumulating 205 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries across 25 games.

Due to unique circumstances surrounding his eligibility, Wilson will have two years of eligibility remaining despite being a sixth-year senior. The 2020 season did not count toward his eligibility, and he received a medical redshirt in 2021 after sustaining an injury early in the season. This allowed him to preserve an additional year of playtime, making him a valuable asset for West Virginia.

With Chase Wilson set to join the Mountaineers, fans can look forward to witnessing the impact of his experience and defensive prowess on the team. His arrival promises to enhance the squad's defensive capabilities, providing both leadership and reliability on the field. As preparations for the 2025 season continue, Wilson's presence is anticipated to be a significant boost for West Virginia football.
