In the charming streets of Gautier, an old sugar cutters' town, a festive atmosphere emerged as 18 members of the Wabash College baseball team embarked on a mission to spread holiday cheer. Following a day of rain that forced the cancellation of their scheduled game, the players packed hundreds of goodie bags brimming with sweets for the local children. On this special day, they traversed the town's narrow lanes, inviting kids to join them at the local ballpark with cries of "Regalo en el pley"—a call that promised gifts at the baseball field.

Initially skeptical about the success of their endeavor, the players were soon delighted by the overwhelming response. As they walked through the neighborhood, a makeshift parade formed, with approximately 30 children joining the procession. By the time they reached the ballpark, nearly three times as many eager faces awaited them in the bleachers behind home plate.
