In a significant move within the baseball landscape, Diamond Baseball Holdings, a prominent organization with a portfolio of 38 minor league baseball teams across the nation, has announced an agreement with Cohen Private Ventures. This agreement paves the way for Diamond Baseball Holdings to acquire the Syracuse Mets and the Brooklyn Cyclones, which are the Mets' Triple-A and High-A minor league affiliates respectively. Both teams will continue to be integral parts of the organization, and their front office staffs will remain intact. It's worth noting that Diamond Baseball Holdings had already purchased the Binghamton Rumble Ponies from Cohen Private Ventures earlier this year.

Andy Green, the Mets' Senior Vice President of Player Development, expressed his excitement about the growing relationship with Diamond Baseball Holdings. "We are excited to grow our relationship with DBH as they work to finalize this sale," he said. "Our affiliates play a crucial role in providing valuable steppingstones for our players in these communities. At the same time, they offer family-friendly experiences for our fans in those cities. Just like what we've witnessed in Binghamton, DBH will undoubtedly strengthen our affiliates from both a baseball and fan perspective."

Syracuse Mets: A Journey of Rebranding and Growth

In October 2017, the Mets made a strategic move by purchasing the Syracuse Chiefs franchise. Their desire was to have a team closer to Queens.
