2025-01-14

The Pascagoula-Gautier School District has announced plans to honor the memory of Shermarion Miner, a 15-year-old student who tragically passed away. On January 9, Miner experienced a sudden collapse at the Gautier High School fieldhouse. Despite immediate medical attention and transfer to Ocean Springs Hospital, his condition could not be stabilized, leading to his untimely death. The cause remains under investigation.

A community vigil will take place at Vaughn-Wallace Stadium on Thursday, January 16, at 5 p.m., providing an opportunity for friends, family, and fellow students to come together in remembrance. The official funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, at 2 p.m., at the Healer Nation Healing Center. Miner was known as a dedicated sophomore and an integral part of the school's football team, playing on the offensive line. His passing has deeply affected the entire district, leaving a profound sense of loss among teammates and educators alike.

The grief within the Pascagoula-Gautier School District and the broader community is immeasurable. The young athlete's absence has created a void that cannot easily be filled. Yet, in times of sorrow, communities often find strength through unity and shared memories. The planned events serve not only as tributes but also as reminders of the importance of cherishing every moment and supporting one another during difficult times. Together, they honor the life of a remarkable young man whose spirit will continue to inspire those around him.
