Diamond Baseball Holdings Adds 3 SoCal Minor-League Affiliates
2024-12-12
Diamond Baseball Holdings is making significant moves in the world of minor-league baseball. With a focus on Southern California, the company is adding three new affiliates. The Tri-City Dust Devils (Angels High-A), Modesto Nuts (Mariners Single-A), and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Dodgers Single-A) are now part of the Diamond Baseball Holdings family. These additions bring the total number of MiLB teams under DBH's ownership to 41. For the 2025 season, these affiliations will remain unchanged. However, in 2026, there will be some shifts. The Mariners' Single-A affiliate will move from Modesto, which will complete its final season in 2025, to the DBH-owned Inland Empire 66ers. Meanwhile, the Angels' Single-A affiliate will transition from Inland Empire to Rancho Cucamonga. And the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate will shift from Rancho Cucamonga to a brand new team in Ontario, California, which DBH will own. "While these are individual announcements, they are part of a larger Southern California strategy that we are extremely excited about," said DBH executive chairman Pat Battle in an interview with SBJ. The 8,000-seat Ontario Sports Empire Baseball Stadium, designed by Populous, is set to open in 2026. At a cost of over $100M, it will be the most expensive minor-league stadium ever constructed. This stadium is part of a 190-acre multi-use sports complex that will also feature 14 youth diamond fields and eight full-size diamonds. It's an exciting time for Diamond Baseball Holdings as they continue to expand and shape the future of minor-league baseball in Southern California.

Diamond Baseball Holdings' Southern California Baseball Expansion

Tri-City Dust Devils: A New Addition to the DBH Family

Diamond Baseball Holdings' decision to bring on the Tri-City Dust Devils as an Angels High-A affiliate is a significant one. This minor-league team will now be part of a larger network, benefiting from the resources and expertise of Diamond Baseball Holdings. The Dust Devils bring with them a rich history and a passionate fan base. With DBH's support, they have the opportunity to grow and thrive on the baseball field. This addition not only strengthens DBH's presence in Southern California but also provides a platform for young players to develop and showcase their skills.

Modesto Nuts: A Changing Affiliation in 2026

The Modesto Nuts, currently a Mariners Single-A affiliate, will see a change in 2026. After completing their final season in 2025, the team will shift to the DBH-owned Inland Empire 66ers. This transition is part of Diamond Baseball Holdings' strategic plan for Southern California. The Inland Empire 66ers will now become the new home for Mariners' Single-A baseball in the region. This move allows for a seamless continuation of the baseball experience for fans and players alike. It also presents an opportunity for the Inland Empire area to become a hub for minor-league baseball.

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes: A Shift in Affiliation

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, a Dodgers Single-A affiliate, will also experience a change in affiliation. In 2026, the team will move from Rancho Cucamonga to a new DBH-owned team in Ontario, California. This shift is part of Diamond Baseball Holdings' ongoing efforts to expand and optimize their minor-league affiliations. The move to Ontario brings with it new opportunities and challenges. The new stadium, the Ontario Sports Empire Baseball Stadium, designed by Populous, will provide a state-of-the-art facility for the team. It will also attract more fans and enhance the overall baseball experience in the area. This transition is a testament to Diamond Baseball Holdings' commitment to providing the best possible baseball environment for their affiliates and fans.
