How To Play Connections
You can play on the NYT website or Games app. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, followed by blue and green in the middle, and the purple group is the most challenging. Each group is color-coded. You can shuffle the words to help spot the links. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If incorrect, you lose a life. If close, you'll get a hint. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. But don't worry, we've got hints and answers to help you along.Yellow Group - Acting Up
In this group, we have words that are not working reliably. For example, BUGGY, ERRATIC, GLITCHY, and SPOTTY. These words describe things that are not functioning smoothly or consistently.Imagine a device that keeps having issues, like a computer that freezes or a car that stalls. These are the kinds of things that would fit into the yellow group. They are all about things that are not behaving as they should.
Green Group - Road Trip Essentials
The green group consists of car parts. BUMPER, GRILLE, MIRROR, and RIM are all essential components of a vehicle.When you go on a road trip, you need these parts to keep your car in good condition. The bumper protects the front of the car, the grille allows air to flow to the radiator, the mirror helps you see behind you, and the rim holds the tire. Without these parts, your road trip might not be as smooth.
Blue Group - What a Sitter Might Sit
This group includes things that a sitter might look after. BABY, HOUSE, PET, and PLANT are all things that require care and attention.A sitter is responsible for taking care of these items while the owners are away. A baby needs to be fed and cared for, a house needs to be maintained, a pet needs to be fed and walked, and a plant needs to be watered and cared for. These are all things that a sitter might have to deal with.
Purple Group - "Rock" or "Tax" Would Fit In Here
The purple group is a bit more challenging. BOY, RUBBER, TRIBUTE, and WEDDING are the words that make up this group.These words might not seem to have an obvious connection at first, but they do share a certain theme. Perhaps it's a theme related to special occasions or important events. Or maybe it's a theme related to different aspects of life. It takes a bit of thinking to figure out the link between these words.

I was overly confident with my initial guess of RUBBER, BUMPER, GRILLE, and RIM, but I realized that RUBBER didn't really belong. I then swapped it for MIRROR and got the greens. The yellows were no problem after that.
HOUSE, BABY, PET, and WEDDING seemed like a good group of life milestones, so I guessed the other four words would be the purples. But I was one away again. I tried swapping PLANT and PET, but still couldn't get it. I was down to the wire and finally guessed TRIBUTE, but it was too late. I should have listened to my gut and remembered that "band" was the first thing that came to mind when I saw RUBBER. Oh well, better luck next time!
