"Duke Basketball's Injury Update for Incarnate Word Game"
2024-12-10
Duke basketball has been on a remarkable three-game winning streak. Last week, they secured a home win against the highly ranked No. 2 Auburn. And on Sunday, they achieved a road victory in their ACC opener. Now, with the No. 4 ranking in the AP Top 25 Poll, Jon Scheyer's third Duke basketball squad is all set to host the unranked Incarnate Word Cardinals at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday in Cameron Indoor Stadium (ACC Network).

Duke Basketball's Winning Streak Continues

Game Against Incarnate Word Cardinals

The Blue Devils, currently with a 7-2 record and 1-0 in the ACC, are without one of their clutch forces, junior forward Maliq Brown. Roughly 90 minutes before the tipoff against Incarnate Word, it was reported that the 6-foot-9, 222-pound newcomer from Syracuse is recovering from a toe injury. This is a significant setback as Brown has been averaging 3.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game off the bench, and in the past three outings, he has totaled 20 boards, six steals, and two blocks.

It is expected that freshman center Patrick Ngongba II, a former composite five-star prep, will see an increase in minutes while Maliq Brown is out. The team will have to adjust their game plan without one of their key players.

Week Off and Upcoming Game

After facing the Incarnate Word Cardinals, the surging Blue Devils will have a week off. This break will give them time to rest and prepare for their next challenge. Next Tuesday, they will welcome the George Mason Patriots (7-3, 0-0 Atlantic 10) to Durham. The game is also set to tip at 7 p.m. ET (ACC Network). It will be an important test for the team as they look to continue their winning momentum.
