A significant transformation has taken place within the horse racing community, as the annual Horse Racing Women’s Summit has evolved into the Horse Racing Women’s Association (HRWA). This shift marks the organization's commitment to fostering a year-round platform dedicated to supporting and uplifting women in all facets of the industry. Through various initiatives and events, HRWA aims to build a thriving network of professionals who can connect, learn, and inspire each other.
The journey began four years ago with the intention of hosting either a one-time or annual summit. However, the overwhelming enthusiasm and demand from women in the sport for networking opportunities, knowledge sharing, and inspiration led to a more ambitious vision. Since its inaugural event in 2022, HRWA has expanded its influence across multiple states, organizing gatherings in key locations such as New York, Kentucky, and Florida, while maintaining active engagement in California. In addition, the association launched a membership program in 2023, focusing on initiatives like scholarships and community-driven projects.
The transition from a single-event format to a year-round association reflects the growing need for continuous support and connectivity within the horse racing community. By embracing this change, HRWA now offers diverse formats for engagement, both in person and online, ensuring that anyone interested in contributing to the mission can participate. This evolution not only highlights the importance of inclusivity but also underscores the power of collaboration and collective effort in advancing the role of women in horse racing. Together, these efforts create a brighter future for the industry, driven by innovation, education, and mutual support.
