2025-04-23

The Albion College men’s tennis team wrapped up their season on Wednesday, concluding with three consecutive losses to Calvin, Alma, and Hope. Despite showing resilience, the Britons were unable to secure victories in these final matches. While they managed some individual successes, such as a doubles triumph by Josh Doyle and Jacob Doyle, along with a singles win from Josh Doyle, the overall results leaned heavily in favor of their opponents.

Throughout the last stretch of their season, the Britons faced formidable competition. In their match against Calvin, the Knights delivered an overwhelming 7-0 defeat. The following encounter with Alma resulted in a closer but still unfavorable 6-1 outcome for Albion. Notably, at first doubles, the duo of Josh Doyle and Jacob Doyle achieved a hard-fought 6-4 victory. However, this success was overshadowed by setbacks in the other doubles matches, preventing Albion from securing the crucial doubles point.

In singles play, Josh Doyle stood out as a bright spot for the team. Competing at the third singles position, he delivered Albion’s sole victory, defeating his opponent with scores of 6-1 and 6-3. This performance highlighted his skill and determination under pressure.

The final chapter unfolded against Hope College, where the Britons faced another 7-0 setback. This marked the end of their competitive journey for the season, showcasing both the challenges encountered and the tenacity displayed by the players.

As the curtain falls on this season, the Albion College men’s tennis team can reflect on moments of strength and areas for growth. The experiences gained will undoubtedly shape their strategies and aspirations moving forward, setting the stage for future successes on the court.
