In the highly anticipated first ASWA high school basketball rankings of the season, an impressive sight unfolds as five defending champions claim the top spot. These teams have proven their mettle in the previous seasons and are now looking to continue their dominance. Girls rankings see Class 7A Hoover, Class 4A Good Hope, and Class 1A Spring Garden starting the season at the pinnacle after their class titles last year. In the boys rankings, Class 7A Hoover and Class 4A Fairfield, who won the Class 5A title last season, take the lead. For the first time in a while, Hazel Green is no longer the No. 1 team in Class 6A girls.
