Georgia's 3 Freshmen Earn Spots on 2024 All-SEC Team
2024-12-12
ATHENS — In the highly competitive world of college football recruiting, Georgia has truly made a mark. The Bulldogs signed the No. 1 signing class for the 2024 recruiting cycle, and three members of this class have already shown their mettle by earning recognition on the All-SEC Freshman team. This is a significant achievement that highlights the talent and potential within Georgia's program.

Running Back Nate Frazier: A Dynamic Force

Nate Frazier has emerged as a key player for Georgia this season. He led the team in rushing, amassing an impressive 634 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground. His performance was particularly notable when Trevor Etienne was dealing with a rib injury in November. As Georgia coach Kirby Smart pointed out, "He's still learning things. He still messes up. But he's electric. He's different when the ball hits his hands. He bursts in the hole. He probably sometimes too fast. He doesn't always have patience. But you talk about a kid that runs hard, works hard, and loves it. And those linemen love playing with him." Frazier's speed and determination on the field have made him a force to be reckoned with.In addition to his rushing prowess, Frazier has also shown the ability to make big plays in crucial situations. His electrifying runs have given Georgia's offense a much-needed boost and have solidified his place as a valuable contributor.

Safety KJ Bolden: A Key Piece

KJ Bolden has earned the most consistent playing time among any freshman on the team. He appeared in every game for the Bulldogs this season, finishing with an impressive 54 tackles, 1.0 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. His play at safety has been crucial, playing alongside veterans Malaki Starks and Dan Jackson. As Georgia coach Kirby Smart noted, "KJ's done a tremendous job of being very intelligent. He understands football. He has great instincts. He's gotten more confident as a player. Last week, he had to play strong (safety) and free because of the tempo. He didn't get to play just one position, and he played a lot of snaps for a freshman. And he continues to grow and get better. I like his humility and the fact that he's a sponge. He's in meetings, he takes notes. He's not a know-it-all." Bolden's ability to adapt and learn on the fly has been a key factor in his success.

Inside Linebacker Chris Cole: A Versatile Player

Chris Cole, like Bolden, was a highly touted 5-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He took on a larger role in Georgia's third-down package when Smael Mondon missed time with a lower-body injury. The inside linebacker played in all 13 games and also carved out a role on special teams for the Bulldogs.Cole had a fumble recovery in wins against Tennessee and UMass and scored a touchdown in the win over UMass. He finished the season with 16 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss. As coach Smart said, "One of the hardest workers. He and Justin (Williams) work extremely hard. Number one they're high character, super intelligent, come from great families, and they both work really hard. Chris has had a little more success this year, got more playing time than Justin, but they're like best friends. And they work really hard, and they're very demanding of themselves. And Gabe Harris made that sack fumble happen, that was a great get off, great rush by him, and he's worked really hard." Cole's versatility and work ethic have made him a valuable asset to the Georgia team.Georgia's success on the All-SEC Freshman team is a testament to the hard work and talent of these three players. They have shown that they are ready to make an impact at the college football level and will be key contributors in the years to come.
