The Harding men’s tennis team, ranked 14th in the nation, showcased their prowess by securing a decisive 5-2 victory against Missouri-St. Louis at the UMSL Tennis Courts on Friday. This match featured standout performances in both singles and doubles competitions, elevating the team's season record to an impressive 8-4. Highlights included victories from top-ranked players like Cas de Ruiter and Adrian Solorzano, who each delivered strong performances in their respective matches.
At the forefront of the singles competition was Cas de Ruiter, nationally ranked ninth, who faced Alejandro Ley with relentless determination. De Ruiter emerged victorious after a grueling three-set battle with scores of 6-0, 6-7 (7-9), and 6-3. Following closely was Adrian Solorzano, ranked 28th, who defeated Tanin Ramnath in straight sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Caleb Folse also contributed significantly by overcoming Daniel Berdecio with scores of 6-4 and 6-4 in the fourth singles position. Luis Agullo rounded out the singles triumphs by defeating Joan Garros 6-1, 6-3 in the sixth spot.
In the doubles segment, Harding's formidable duo of Solorzano and de Ruiter, ranked 14th nationally, continued their winning streak by defeating Berdecio and Ramnath with a score of 6-4. Additionally, the team of Florian Gayme and Cian Mikkelsen, ranked 34th, displayed exceptional skill by taking down Percy Siercke and Henry Roberts with ease, scoring 6-1.
