Harvard Women's Tennis Readies for 2025 with Intense Schedule

Opening the Season on the Road

The Crimson will kick off their 2025 season by venturing out on the road. On Sunday, January 19, they will face a tough test against Baylor. This early season encounter will serve as a great litmus test for the team. Then, on Saturday, January 25th, Harvard will take on a familiar foe, the Princeton Tigers. A win in this match would earn them a chance to compete for a spot at the ITA National Team Indoors, which will be hosted in Chicago, Ill. from February 7-11.

First Home Matches in Dual Action

After their trip to Athens, GA, the Crimson will finally play on their home courts. In January, they will welcome two crosstown rivals, Boston College on January 31st and Boston University on February 2nd. These home matches will provide a great opportunity for the local fans to support the team and for the players to showcase their skills in front of a familiar crowd.

Hosting a String of Strong Opponents

Later in February and into March, Harvard will host six consecutive matches. This stretch will see them welcome a slew of strong opponents including Wisconsin on February 15th, Quinnipiac also on February 15th, Stony Brook on March 1st, Memphis on March 2nd, UMass-Amherst on March 8th, and NJIT on March 9th. Each of these matches will be a challenging test for the Crimson team, but it will also give them the chance to improve and grow as players.

Annual Spring Break Trip West

Harvard's non-conference slate will include their annual spring break trip. This year, they will head out west to face a pair of California opponents, LMU on March 19th and UC-Santa Barbara on March 22nd. This trip will expose the team to different playing styles and climates, which can only help them in their development.

Ivy League Play at Home and Away

In Ivy League play, the Crimson will face Dartmouth on March 30th, Princeton on April 5th, Penn on April 6th, and Yale on April 13th at home. They will also travel to Brown on April 11th, Columbia on April 19th, and Cornell on April 20th. These matches will be crucial in determining the team's standing in the league and will require their best efforts.

Building on a Historic Season

The Crimson welcomed back ten players and added a pair of first-year's ahead of this year. This infusion of new talent, combined with the experience of the returning players, gives them a great chance to build on their historic 2023-24 season. Last year, Harvard finished 19-5 overall and 5-2 in conference to rank tied for second in the league. Their strong dual season earned them an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking their first trip to the big dance since 2009-10 season. This success serves as a motivation for the team as they look to continue their upward trajectory.
