Groveport Madison Schools has decided to strip the name of former NFL standout Le’Veon Bell from its football stadium due to a combination of financial and legal issues. The school announced that Cruiser Stadium will no longer bear the moniker "Le’Veon Bell Field," following allegations in a lawsuit involving significant misconduct. This decision comes after a civil court ruled against Bell in a case concerning serious ethical violations.

Financial obligations also played a role in this decision. According to the school district, Bell failed to honor his commitment to fund improvements for the field with a $750,000 donation. Despite presenting a symbolic check years ago, Bell reportedly ceased making payments as early as 2020. The district revealed that only four installments, totaling $300,000, were received before Bell discontinued further contributions. The contractual agreement included provisions allowing the district to terminate the partnership if moral or financial obligations were breached.
