Among them are freshmen Blaze Connolly from Putnam Valley and Alyssa Sanchez from Tappan Zee, sophomore Claire Kennedy from Bronxville, senior Lucy Mager from Hendrick Hudson, junior Avionna Moore from Woodlands, and junior Cara Persico from Somers. Each player contributed significantly to their team's success through impressive statistics and decisive plays.
A Week of Exceptional Performances
In a thrilling week of flag football action, standout players emerged as leaders for their respective teams. At Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, Tappan Zee secured a hard-fought victory over Lakeland on March 28, setting the stage for further excitement. Over the following week, these talented individuals displayed remarkable abilities that caught the attention of fans and coaches alike. Blaze Connolly, a freshman wide receiver from Putnam Valley, dominated with an impressive 204 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Claire Kennedy, a sophomore quarterback from Bronxville, not only scored three rushing touchdowns but also made ten tackles against Woodlands.
Lucy Mager, a senior from Hendrick Hudson, proved her versatility by accumulating 178 passing yards and delivering three touchdowns against Dobbs Ferry. Her performance remained consistent as she achieved another rushing touchdown alongside two passing touchdowns against Lakeland. In other notable performances, Avionna Moore from Woodlands collected 200 yards and one touchdown while pulling 20 flags over three games. Similarly, Cara Persico from Somers accumulated 253 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions across three matches. Lastly, Alyssa Sanchez, a freshman cornerback from Tappan Zee, demonstrated defensive prowess with five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, along with nine flags.
