Alabama men's basketball recently completed a challenging seven-game stretch with a home victory over Creighton on Saturday night. This win came after a long absence from home and lifted their record to 5-2 over the past seven contests. Now, the Crimson Tide is set to hit the road again for their next game, but one player will have a special homecoming. Forward Grant Nelson, who grew up just a short distance from the location of the next game, will be facing North Dakota on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Alabama Basketball's Road Trip and Homecoming

Alabama's Recent Home Victory

The Crimson Tide's recent home game against Creighton was a hard-fought battle. They managed to grab a 17-point lead early on, but Creighton kept finding ways to keep the game close. Preseason All-American guard Mark Sears had an outstanding game, shooting 8-of-15 from the field, 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line to score a season-high 27 points. Sears also won tonight's Hard Hat for tallying the most blue-collar points. This victory was a significant boost for the team after a long break from home.

It showed the team's ability to perform under pressure and come out on top. The players demonstrated their determination and skill, which will give them confidence as they head back on the road.

Grant Nelson's Journey

Forward Grant Nelson transferred to Alabama from North Dakota State before the 2023 season. During his time with the Bison, he made a name for himself. He landed a spot on the All-Summit League First Team and was on the Summit League All-Defensive Team. As an underclassman, he won the Summit League Sixth Man of the Year award. Additionally, he was named North Dakota Mr. Basketball in 2020 when he was in high school.

Nelson's story is a testament to his talent and hard work. His transfer to Alabama adds a new dimension to the team and gives them a player with a unique background and skill set. His familiarity with the area where the next game will be played will also be an advantage for the team.

Upcoming Game Against North Dakota

The Crimson Tide will face North Dakota on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. CT. This will be the first-ever meeting between Alabama and North Dakota. The Tide is very unfamiliar with the Summit League as they have only faced two members of the conference before. They are tied at 3-3 in the all-time series against South Dakota State and lost their only meeting with Oral Roberts back in 1988.

The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, with the pregame show starting one hour prior to tipoff. The Crimson Tide Sports Network will provide play-by-play with Chris Stewart and color commentary by Bryan Passink. The Fighting Hawks, on the other hand, fell to UTSA 95-85 on Sunday afternoon. Guard Treysen Eaglestaff and forward Dariyus Woodson combined for 47 points, but it wasn't enough as the Fighting Hawks struggled defensively. UTSA converted on 51 percent of its field goal attempts, including an impressive 15-of-24 from downtown.

Alabama and North Dakota Stat Leaders

Alabama has some notable stat leaders, while North Dakota also has its own set of players to watch. These stat leaders will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game.
