2025-04-28

A promising young athlete has made a significant decision regarding his future in collegiate athletics. Hugh Price, the Montgomery Bell Academy quarterback, declared his commitment to join Southern Miss football through a post on his X account (formerly Twitter) on April 27. With multiple offers from prestigious institutions, including Michigan and Louisville, this Nashville-based talent is set to bring his skills to the Golden Eagles.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 and weighing 190 pounds, Price ranks as Tennessee's No. 30 player in the 2026 class according to 247Sports Composite. Despite being limited to just five games last season due to a collarbone injury, he demonstrated resilience by returning for crucial playoff matches. His performance included completing 48 out of 94 passes for 540 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Additionally, he contributed significantly with his feet, rushing for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

As Price enters his senior year under new MBA coach Chris Chauvin, expectations are high. Chauvin, who previously served as defensive coordinator under Marty Euverard, aims to build upon the academy's storied legacy. This includes numerous state playoff appearances, runner-up finishes, and championships that place them among Tennessee's top programs historically.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Price's choice reflects not only personal aspirations but also aligns with Southern Miss's vision for developing formidable players within their program. Fans eagerly anticipate how this partnership will unfold over the coming years.
