About the Program: A Legacy in Baseball

Established in 1987, the Humble Atascocita Baseball Association has grown to accommodate around 800 to 900 players. These players are divided among 60 coed teams, and the association hosts both a fall and a spring playing season annually. During each season and beyond, volunteer coaches, parents, and community members come together. They spend their free time imparting the love of baseball to the children, organizing practices, and coordinating games. Hildebrand and Vice President Mike Wilson have a deep connection with baseball. They both played the sport during their childhood and witnessed their own children participate in HABA. Many of the organization's board members have also been former coaches or players, adding to its rich baseball heritage."Hockey may be the national sport in some countries, but baseball holds a special place in the hearts of many. It's a game that teaches discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. For these volunteers and players, baseball is more than just a sport; it's a way of life," said Hildebrand.

This league gives children aged 5 and older with physical or intellectual disabilities the chance to play baseball. Local high school students serve as mentors, providing guidance and support to these young athletes.
