In October, Aryna Sabalenka regained the top position on the WTA Tour rankings during a period when Swiatek was absent from the tour. It was later revealed that the change in her team, with the replacement of coach Tomasz Wiktorowski by Wim Fissette, along with other factors, led to her absence during the Asian swing. The most significant event that shook the tennis world was the announcement in November that Iga Swiatek had tested positive for trimetazidine, a heart medication known as TMZ. She failed an out-of-competition drug test in August and was suspended for one month, from September 12 to October 4. "My reaction was extremely intense. It was a chaotic blend of disbelief and anxiety. There was an outpouring of tears," the World number two recounted. "We usually receive notifications via email and text message when there is an issue or when we need to complete something in the documents. When I opened that email, I thought it was just a routine notification that players get when they have to take some action. But this time, it became clear that the email was of a much more serious nature. In fact, I couldn't even finish reading it because I was immediately overwhelmed by tears. My managers said that my reaction was as if someone close to me had passed away or something extremely serious had happened to my health. I'm grateful that I wasn't alone during that time as I could hand them the phone and show them what had happened."
