2025-03-05

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has recently unveiled the district alignments for the upcoming 2025 and 2026 football seasons. This new arrangement will significantly impact how teams compete, bringing fresh rivalries and challenges to the field.

For eight-player football, several districts have been established across the state. Notably, District 7 includes schools such as Melcher-Dallas, Moravia, Southeast Warren, Twin Cedars, and Wayne. Meanwhile, District 8 features Bedford, East Union, Lamoni, Lenox, Mormon Trail, Murray, and Seymour. Other districts also encompass various schools from different regions, ensuring a diverse and competitive environment.

In Class A, the structure is slightly different. District 6 highlights Martensdale-St. Marys, while District 7 brings together AHSTW, Central Decatur, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley, Riverside, and Southwest Valley. Moving up in class, Class 1A's District 8 showcases Missouri Valley, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Treynor, Tri-Center, and Underwood. The higher classes, including 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A, similarly group schools into strategic districts that promise thrilling matchups.

The reorganization of football districts aims to enhance competition and foster a more balanced playing field. By carefully selecting which teams compete against each other, the association promotes fair play and encourages all participants to strive for excellence. This approach not only benefits athletes but also enriches the overall high school sports experience, promoting teamwork, dedication, and community spirit.
