In a thrilling display of prowess, the Ithaca College baseball team successfully swept the Skidmore Thoroughbreds in a doubleheader match. The victories were marked by scores of 24-11 and 7-6, enhancing their season record to 17-10 and conference standing at 10-3. The first game saw an explosive offensive performance with significant contributions from various players. In contrast, the second game was tightly contested until the final innings.

Powerful Offense Shines in First Game

The Bombers showcased their hitting strength early in the first game, amassing an impressive lead through strategic plays and powerful hits. Key players contributed significantly to this victory, demonstrating remarkable teamwork and skill. Multiple scoring opportunities allowed them to extend their advantage throughout the game.

From the onset, the Bombers dominated the scoreboard. Collin Feeney's crucial two-RBI single ignited the rally, followed by Tyler Pugliese’s impactful double and Ryan Laubscher’s timely hit. The fourth inning witnessed another surge as Camden Laney and Ethan Fantel delivered key hits. In the fifth, an RBI single by Ethan McDonough and a home run by Laney further bolstered their lead. The eighth and ninth innings saw additional runs, capping off a formidable offensive exhibition led by Nate Rodriguez, Zach Sperger, and Fantel. McDermott's opening solo homerun provided the initial spark, complemented by Ethan McDonough's clutch two-run single and Laney's subsequent hits in the second inning. Although Skidmore narrowed the gap progressively, they eventually seized the lead in the sixth inning. However, the Bombers' determination shone through in the eighth when McDonough and Laney drove in crucial runs to reclaim the advantage. Dan Kellachan's stellar relief pitching ensured that the Bombers maintained their lead, securing the hard-fought victory. This triumph highlighted their adaptability and tenacity on the field.
