The IUP women's basketball team is all set to host a conference game against the Kutztown Golden Bears on Tuesday, December 17 at 3:00 PM. With an impressive eight-game winning streak and various standout players, this matchup is sure to be a thrilling one. IUP, currently with an 8-0 record and 4-0 in the conference, is receiving votes in the WBCA Division II Coaches Poll and was ranked 16th in the D2CSC Media Poll. They hold a strong home court advantage, boasting a 162-28 (.851) record since the opening of the KCAC in 2011-12.

The Hawks have been on a roll, with Nyshae’ Weaver named PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week on November 25 and PSAC West Athlete of the Week on December 9. She has been a force, combining for 20-24 from the field for 44 points and grabbing 29 rebounds against Shepherd and West Chester. Weaver is averaging 16.5 PPG and ranks 8th in the PSAC. Shamia Strayhorn is averaging 13.3 PPG and leads the team in minutes played, averaging 30.9 minutes and ranking 21st in the PSAC.

Home Court Advantage

Since the opening of the KCAC, IUP has been a force at home. They have won 6 of 6 games in 2024-2025, 13 of 15 games in 2023-24, and 13 of 17 games in 2022-23 & 2021-22. This home court advantage has been a key factor in their success.

Kutztown, with an overall record of 4-7 and a PSAC record of 0-3, will pose a challenge. Their leading scorer is Naia Pulliam, who is averaging 14.7 PPG and leads the team in free throws and minutes.
