Our Esquina has assembled a remarkable crew for this baseball show. Lorenzo Delgado, the podcast director, is a member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, bringing a writer's keen eye to the proceedings. Francisco Castro, the social media director and a diehard A’s fan, is an experienced professional in the digital realm. And Emily Favian, a dynamic content creator, adds a fan's perspective with her charismatic flair.
Emily Favian graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Broadcast Production. She creates baseball-focused content for women on Instagram and TikTok, offering her unique take on breaking news, fashion, and educational resources. She is widely recognized on Instagram as @baseballgirly713 and gained significant attention earlier this year when she discovered a replica of the Blue Astros jacket Selena wore during her last concert at the Astrodome. That Selena reel amassed an impressive 1.5 million views.
In their first episode this week, Delgado, Favian, and Castro drafted their lineups with top Latino home run hitters. This showcases their commitment to celebrating Latino talent in the baseball world. Each selection is a testament to their passion for the game and their desire to highlight the achievements of Latino players.
Our Esquina founder Jose de Jesus Ortiz expressed his excitement about having Emily on board. "I'm excited to welcome Emily, the famed Baseballgirly to Our Esquina," he said. "She brings an important perspective as we continue our mission to amplify Latino voices and stories. She knows baseball, and she's tremendously charismatic and knowledgeable."
Both Delgado and Castro had a clear vision for a baseball show that would be dedicated to fans worldwide. They believed that baseball fans want more than just recaps or highlights; they want to see creativity that can spark exciting debates among their friends and families.
In today's digital age, social media plays a significant role. Instagram reels, TikTok, and YouTube shorts have become powerful platforms for sharing content. Former and current athletes are also starting their own podcasts, further highlighting the importance of this medium. Our Esquina's podcast director and social media director, Francisco Castro, took on the challenge of constructing and producing the Our Esquina Baseball Show.
"I'm very excited to start this show with Emily and Francisco," said Delgado. "Both are very creative in their own ways and pitch entertaining ideas that align perfectly for this show. We want to continue to engage baseball fans from a different lens."
