Lehigh's Rising Star: Kochanowicz Named Rookie of the Week Again
2025-04-28

In a remarkable display of talent and consistency, Cole Kochanowicz, a first-year player from Lehigh University, has once again been honored as the Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Week. This marks his third recognition this season and second consecutive week receiving the accolade. Hailing from Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, Kochanowicz continues to shine with an impressive pitching performance that includes a perfect ERA in recent games, contributing significantly to his team’s victories.

Kochanowicz demonstrated exceptional skill during two critical appearances against Navy. In one game, he secured a crucial save by striking out two batters in a high-pressure ninth inning, which led to a dramatic comeback win for the Mountain Hawks. Just days later, he delivered another stellar performance, earning his sixth victory of the season with 3.2 scoreless relief innings and four strikeouts. These accomplishments have solidified his position as a key player on the team.

Beyond these specific achievements, Kochanowicz boasts an impressive season record. Leading the Mountain Hawks with a 2.37 ERA across over 30 innings pitched, he also holds the top spot on the team for wins and saves. His consistent excellence has set a high standard for rookie players in the league.

The Mountain Hawks are preparing for their final home game of the season at J. David Walker Field on Tuesday, April 29, where they will face Coppin State at 3 p.m. Fans can stay updated on all things Lehigh Baseball through their social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
