The University of North Alabama men's tennis team capped off a remarkable performance at the CCB Collegiate Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, securing an impressive 20 team wins and two bracket championships. Facing off against a diverse field of opponents, including in-state rivals and former conference foes, the Lions showcased their depth and resilience, delivering a standout showing across both singles and doubles play.

Doubles Dominance: Securing Two Bracket Titles

The Lions' doubles teams were the stars of the weekend, with senior Nazar Fedoryshyn and junior Lachlan Brain, as well as sophomore Alberto Altur and freshman Samu Dominguez, emerging as champions in their respective brackets. Fedoryshyn and Altur claimed the Red Doubles title, while Dominguez and Brain secured the Bulldog Doubles crown. The sophomore duo of Izan Orgiles and Birtan Duran also made their mark, winning two straight matches in the consolation bracket after a tough opening loss.

Singles Standouts: Altur and Fedoryshyn Lead the Charge

In singles play, each North Alabama player secured at least one victory, contributing to the team's impressive tally of 12 individual wins. Altur and Fedoryshyn were the standouts, each recording a team-high of three wins. Altur's impressive run saw him reach the finals of the Red Singles bracket, where he ultimately fell to Vasil Dimitrov of Louisiana. Fedoryshyn, on the other hand, navigated the Bulldog Singles bracket with poise, winning his first two matches before falling to the eventual champion.

Dominguez, a freshman, started slow but bounced back with two wins in the consolation bracket, narrowly missing out on the final. Duran, a sophomore, combined with Brain to compete in the Blue Singles bracket, where he secured a hard-fought victory over Kennesaw State's Hugo Salmeron and followed it up with a dominant win over Louisiana's Mason Landreth.

Orgiles opened his campaign in the Red Singles bracket with a hard-fought, three-set victory over Samford's Sebastian Harrison, showcasing his mental toughness. Altur, too, demonstrated his competitive spirit, starting his Red Singles run with a convincing win over UAB's Hoan Mouret before advancing to the finals with a pair of dominant performances.

In the doubles competition, the team of Orgiles and Duran shone in the Blue Doubles consolation bracket.
