The Lipscomb University baseball team has announced its highly anticipated 2025 schedule, featuring a total of 54 games. Among these matches, 31 will be played at Ken Dugan Field, offering the Bisons a strong home-field advantage for the first 12 games of the season. The schedule includes formidable opponents, with seven teams having participated in the NCAA Tournament last year, including three that advanced to the College World Series.
The beginning of the season sets the stage for an intense and competitive start for the Bisons. They will face several powerful opponents right from the outset, testing their mettle early on. The season kicks off with a series against the University of Kentucky, followed by matches against other NCAA Tournament participants like Evansville and West Virginia. These initial encounters promise to be pivotal in shaping the team's momentum.
Opening day is scheduled for February 14, when the Wildcats from Kentucky visit Nashville. This marks the beginning of a grueling stretch where Lipscomb will also confront Evansville on February 18 and West Virginia from February 21-23. Each of these teams boasts impressive credentials from the previous season, ensuring that the Bisons will need to be at their best from the very first pitch. The early part of the season will not only challenge the players but also provide valuable experience and preparation for the rest of the campaign.
Beyond the challenging start, the non-conference portion of the schedule offers a mix of home and away games against high-caliber opponents. Notable fixtures include visits from Florida State and Tennessee, both of which reached Omaha last year. Additionally, the Bisons will travel to face Louisville and Vanderbilt, adding more depth to an already rigorous slate.
In addition to the tough non-conference matchups, the Atlantic Sun conference schedule begins in mid-March with a trip to Austin Peay. The home portion of the conference schedule includes matches against Bellarmine, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and a rematch with Austin Peay. The season culminates with the ASUN Championship in DeLand, Florida, hosted by Stetson University. Coach Jeff Forehand emphasizes that this robust schedule will thoroughly prepare the team for the challenges ahead, both in and out of conference play.
