Arkansas' Second-Quarter Comeback Shocks SEMO

First Half Highlights

At halftime, Carly Keats led Arkansas with 16 points, all scored in the second quarter. The Razorbacks erased a 12-point deficit to take a sizable lead. In the second quarter alone, Keats made 4 three-pointers and kept the team's momentum going. SEMO took a 24-12 lead with a jumper by Zoe Best, but the Razorbacks answered with a put-back jumper from Vera Ojenuwa. Pinja Paananen got Arkansas within single digits with a driving layup, and a nice pass from Kiki Smith to Ojenuwa for a layup inside made it 24-18. Carly Keats then made a step-back jumper off the bounce to pull the Razorbacks within 4, and Izzy Higginbottom completed a three-point play to make the score 24-23.

SEMO was 6 of 8 (75%) from distance in the first quarter and took a 10-point lead entering the second quarter. But Arkansas fought back, and by halftime, they were only down by 16. The Razorbacks showed their resilience and determination in the first half.

Second Half Thrills

In the third quarter, Arkansas continued their dominant play. They outscored the Redhawks 19-4 and went on a 37-1 run that began early in the second quarter. SEMO finally ended a field goal drought of 16 minutes, 22 seconds. During this stretch, Vera Ojenuwa had 5 points, and Danika Galea and Izzy Higginbottom scored 4 apiece. Carly Keats led Arkansas with 19 points at the end of the third quarter, followed by Higginbottom (13), Ojenuwa (13), and Jenna Lawrence (5).

The Razorbacks went deep into their bench in the fourth quarter and continued to find success. Karley Johnson had 5 points, including a three-point play she finished just before the break. Arkansas maintained their lead and sealed the victory with a final score of 84-45.

SEMO struggled throughout the game, shooting only 23% from the floor and getting out-rebounded 42-23. Arkansas' defense was strong, and their offense was on fire, especially in the second half. This victory is a testament to the Razorbacks' skill and determination.
