Local Athletes Shine in Mid-State League Fall Sports Awards

The Mid-State League recently announced its season-ending awards for volleyball, golf, and tennis, and the list of honorees was dominated by local student-athletes from Fairfield County and the Scioto Valley region. The league's Buckeye and Cardinal divisions recognized standout performances, with several players earning top individual accolades and their teams capturing division titles.

Volleyball Standouts Shine Bright
In the MSL-Buckeye Division, the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs emerged as the league champions with a perfect 12-0 record. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Evelyn Brown, who was named the Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Teammate Sienna Hogue was recognized as the Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach Kyle McFerin was honored as the Coach of the Year.Joining Brown and Hogue on the first-team all-conference squad were Bloom-Carroll's Corinne Knapp and Madison Lacy, as well as Fairfield Union's Christian Thompson. The Bulldogs' Sylvia Haughn, the Falcons' Molly Brown and Addy Wolfe, Amanda-Clearcreek's Katie Kemmerling, and Liberty Union's Brooke Gaskill were named to the second team, while Bloom-Carroll's Kylynne Sollbarger, the Lions' Ella Brown, the Aces' Emma Kern, and the Falcons' Payton Rhymer received honorable mentions.In the MSL-Cardinal Division, the Fisher Catholic Irish claimed the league title with a 13-1 record. Fairfield Christian Academy's Samantha Rouser was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and the Irish's Ethan Hayek was recognized as the Coach of the Year.The first-team all-conference selections included Fisher Catholic's Charli Gilum and Sydney Ellis, Fairfield Christian Academy's Rouser and Miciah Herron, and Berne Union's Autumn Diehl. The second-team honorees were the Irish's Mallory Stanton, the Knights' Katy Smeltzer and Nakayla Cash, the Rockets' Zuri Duncan, and Millersport's Emma Raver. The second-team honorees were B-C's Nic Long, Fairfield Union's Bryce Lepi and Elijah Wolfe, and Amanda-Clearcreek's Caiden Riddle and AJ Moyer. Bloom-Carroll's Jackson Moore and Lucas Hogue, and Liberty Union's Chase Denny and Reece Chaney received honorable mentions.In the MSL-Cardinal Division, the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights claimed the league title with a perfect 20-0 record. Harrison Teal earned Player of the Year honors, and FCA's Nate Burgess was named the Coach of the Year.The first-team all-conference selections included FCA's Teal, Connor Blair, Johnny Sparks, and Josh Witte. The Circleville Tigers won the MSL-Buckeye Division girls' tennis title with a 19-4 record, followed by Fairfield Union, Logan Elm, Bloom-Carroll, and Hamilton Township.First-team all-conference honors went to Bloom-Carroll's Addison Brown, Raychel Grove, and Ariel Howard, while Lauren Clidence, Cameron Kaut, Elana Perry, and Marley Sheehan were named to the second team.In the MSL-Cardinal Division, the Wellington Jaguars emerged as the league champions with a 7-1 record.
