The LSU Tigers' offense was firing on all cylinders during the exhibition scrimmage against Samford. In the opening game, the Tigers' bats came alive, with catcher Luis Hernandez leading the charge. Hernandez delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning and an RBI groundout in the third, driving in runs and setting the tone for the Tigers' offensive onslaught.The Tigers' offensive prowess continued to shine in the second game, as outfielder Dalton Beck and outfielder Ashton Larson both contributed to the scoring. Beck delivered an RBI single, while Larson lifted a sacrifice fly, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead. The Tigers' offense continued to build momentum, with outfielder Mic Paul driving in two runs with a double in the fifth inning, extending the lead to 4-0.In the final game, the Tigers' offense continued to overwhelm Samford, with infielder John Pearson being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Beck scoring on a wild pitch, and infielder Trevor Schmidt smacking an RBI single, adding three more runs to the Tigers' tally.

Pitching Dominance: Shutting Down the Bulldogs

The Tigers' pitching staff also shone brightly during the exhibition scrimmage, with several standout performances. In the opening game, starting pitcher Chase Shores, a redshirt sophomore from Midland, Texas, made a strong return to the rotation after missing last season due to Tommy John surgery. Shores worked 3.1 innings, limiting the Bulldogs to one run on one hit, while striking out five batters.The Tigers' pitching depth was on full display in the final game, as three true freshmen – right-hander William Schmidt, left-hander Cooper Williams, and right-hander Mavrick Rizy – combined to shut down the Samford offense. Schmidt fired three scoreless innings, while Rizy struck out five Samford batters in two innings of work, showcasing the Tigers' promising young pitching talent.

Beyond the impressive on-field performance, LSU head coach Jay Johnson emphasized the importance of the exhibition scrimmage in terms of team-building and establishing a foundation for the upcoming season. With 26 new players on the roster, the scrimmage provided an opportunity for the team to come together and find their collective identity."With our team having 26 new players, just being on the road and finding ways to get connected from a team standpoint is really important," Johnson said. "On the field, we're just trying to execute what we've learned in the fall to this point.
