The LSU Tigers have bolstered their tight end corps significantly this offseason. The team secured another crucial addition when Texas A&M's Donovan Green announced his commitment to LSU over the weekend. Green, who visited Baton Rouge recently, is a seasoned player with considerable potential. As a redshirt sophomore, he brings multiple years of eligibility to the program.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 265 pounds, Green was once a highly-rated four-star recruit. His college career highlights include 22 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns, all achieved during his freshman year in 2022. Following an injury that sidelined him for part of the next season, Green primarily contributed on special teams in the most recent campaign. This transfer comes at a pivotal time for LSU as they look to fill gaps left by key departures, including Mason Taylor entering the NFL draft and Ka’Morreun Pimpton transferring to TCU. Green joins fellow transfer Bauer Sharp from Oklahoma, enhancing the depth at the tight end position.
With the addition of Green, LSU now boasts a formidable group of tight ends heading into the next season. Alongside Sharp, the roster includes freshman Trey’Dez Green and four-star signee JD LaFleur. Trey’Dez Green made an impressive debut in the Texas Bowl, catching six passes for 53 yards and scoring two touchdowns. These acquisitions underscore LSU's commitment to building a strong and versatile offense. The influx of talent promises to elevate the team's performance and competitiveness on the field, setting the stage for an exciting future in collegiate football.
