The Macalester College women's tennis team recently faced off against St. Olaf College in their final home match of the season, resulting in a challenging 8-1 loss at Hayden Tennis Courts. This performance leaves the Scots with an overall record of 3-14 and a 1-8 standing in the conference, while St. Olaf advances to a strong 12-3 record, including 7-3 within the MIAC league. Notably, the Scots managed one victory through Elizabeth Trevathan’s determined effort in singles play.
In this encounter, St. Olaf demonstrated dominance by securing victories in all three doubles matches. A closely contested duel saw Olha Zubarieva and Jane Spading triumph over Savannah Haugen and Elizabeth Trevathan at No. 1 doubles, concluding with an 8-6 scoreline. Transitioning into singles action, Trevathan showcased resilience, earning the only point for the Scots by defeating Spading at No. 2 singles in straight sets of 6-2 and 6-4. Meanwhile, Haugen engaged in a thrilling battle against Zubarieva at No. 1 singles but narrowly fell short, losing 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
