Michigan football finds itself actively seeking to supplement its quarterback position. The transfer portal has become a vital avenue for them to bring in new talent. Reports suggest that the Wolverines are set to host Maryland transfer QB Billy Edwards Jr. on Monday, Dec. 16. This comes after Edwards Jr. previously visited Wisconsin this weekend. On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos have even submitted predictions for Michigan to land him.Billy Edwards Jr. began his college career at Wake Forest and has spent the past three seasons at Maryland. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 219 pounds, he started for the Terrapins in the 2024 season. He completed 273 of 420 pass attempts, amassing 2,881 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Additionally, he added 150 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 81 carries.

Preparing for the Future

Next year, Michigan is expected to have a new-look quarterback room. Head coach Sherrone Moore is looking to add a transfer along with five-star Bryce Underwood, who signed with the Wolverines in their 2025 recruiting class. The team has already seen redshirt sophomores Jayden Denegal and Alex Orji enter the transfer portal this offseason.
