The competition is fierce among the nominees, each showcasing remarkable talent and leadership on the court. Senior ZaKiyah Johnson leads her team, the Valkyries, with an impressive average of 21.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Her contributions have propelled the Valkyries to a 7-2 record and the top ranking in the first Kentucky High School Girls Basketball Media Poll. Another standout senior, Noel Smith, dominates with an average of 21.1 points per game, boasting a field goal percentage of 60% and leading her team in rebounds with seven per game. Meanwhile, sophomore McKenzie Doss has made waves with her exceptional rebounding skills, averaging a state-best 15.3 rebounds over six games, while also contributing 11.7 points per contest.
Shooting prowess is highlighted by senior Gwynnie Franz, who excels from beyond the arc. She ranks second in the state for made three-pointers, hitting 38.7% of her attempts (55 out of 142) and averaging 4.6 three-pointers per game. Junior Leah Stinson rounds out the list with her consistent performance, averaging 18.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Vikings. These athletes exemplify dedication and excellence, inspiring their peers and setting high standards for future generations.
