Oregon Baseball Sets 2025 Schedule for Big Ten Inaugural Season
2024-12-05
Oregon baseball is all set to embark on an exciting journey in 2025 with a 56-game schedule. This marks the beginning of a new era as the Ducks join the Big Ten Conference. The team opens the season with a 13-game homestand, kicking off against Toledo from February 14th to 16th. This is followed by games against Rhode Island, Columbia, and Utah Tech. After that, UO begins Big Ten play with a three-game set against USC in Irvine, California from March 7th to 9th. Then, they return home for an eight-game homestand that includes two nonconference games against Grand Canyon and three-game series against Minnesota and Rutgers.
Coach's Perspective
Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski emphasizes the significance of this new landscape. "The 2025 season truly marks a turning point for Oregon baseball. Joining the Big Ten Conference along with three other powerful Pac-12 teams will enhance the already strong Power-4 league. Our schedule will maintain our in-state rivalry with Oregon State and offer 36 home games at the beautiful PK Park. There are also potential eight non-conference opportunities against teams predicted to win their respective leagues. Playing against traditional Big Ten powerhouses like Michigan, Ohio State, Maryland, and Iowa while keeping games against former Pac foes like Washington, UCLA, and USC will be a tough challenge. Our midweek strength of schedule will be strengthened by playing series across the nation against postseason regulars like Kent State, Georgetown, and Grand Canyon. We are thrilled about these new opportunities and aim to continue our program's progress, with our eyes set on winning a National Championship in Omaha this June."Home and Away Games
The Ducks have a busy schedule with various home and away games. They visit Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan State, and Iowa in conference play and also have midweek road games at Portland, Georgetown, and two games at Kent State. Oregon will host nine weekend series, including five against Big Ten teams like Minnesota, Rutgers, Michigan, UCLA, and Washington. These games at PK Park provide a great opportunity for the fans to witness the team's performance.In-State Rivalry
Oregon continues its long-standing rivalry with Oregon State with a three-game series at PK Park from April 25th to 27th. After that, they travel to Corvallis for a midweek game on April 29th. These games add an extra layer of excitement to the season and showcase the competitiveness between the two schools. The Ducks' 2025 season is filled with challenges and opportunities. With a strong schedule and the support of the fans, they are ready to make their mark in the Big Ten and beyond.
