Tennis Coach and Sunday Activities
In June 2022, Joyce Short shared with me about the NY Junior Tennis & Learning program on Roosevelt Island. This program holds a significant place in her Sunday activities. As a tennis coach, she imparts her love for the sport and nurtures young talents. The courts on Roosevelt Island become a hub of energy and enthusiasm when she is around, with players of all ages gathering to improve their skills and have fun. She has a unique way of connecting with each student, understanding their needs and helping them reach their full potential. Her dedication to tennis is evident in the countless hours she spends on the courts and in her efforts to promote the sport within the community.Community Activist and Tenant Association President
Joyce Short is the President of the Roosevelt Landings Tenants Association. She is actively involved in addressing various issues that affect the residents. Last August, she reported on the electricity submetering issues in the building, showing her concern for the well-being of the community. Her leadership skills and ability to bring people together have made a significant impact. She works tirelessly to ensure that the tenants' voices are heard and that their concerns are addressed promptly. Through her efforts, the tenants have a stronger sense of unity and a platform to voice their opinions.Consent Awareness Advocate
Joyce Short is also a leading advocate in support of Consent Awareness laws. She believes in the importance of respecting everyone's boundaries and ensuring that consent is given freely and informed. Her work in this area goes beyond just awareness; she actively participates in campaigns and initiatives to promote consent in various aspects of life. Whether it is in the workplace, social settings, or within the community, she emphasizes the significance of obtaining consent and treating others with respect. Her dedication to this cause has inspired many others to become more aware and proactive in promoting consent.
