"The best part was everyone on the team having the opportunity to compete this weekend," Augustus said. The Bears' success at the Thunderbird Invitational and other tournaments has earned them several spots at the prestigious NCAA individual championships, scheduled to take place from November 19-24 in Waco, Texas.Three Cal players – Katja Wiersholm, Mao Mushika, and Lan Mi – have qualified for the singles competition, with Mushika making her debut and Wiersholm returning for her second appearance. Additionally, the doubles team of Mushika and Jessica Alsola have secured a bid to the championships."We're happy to have three Bears in singles (Katja Wiersholm, Mao Mushika and Lan Mi) and one doubles team (Mushika and Jessica Alsola) play at NCAAs," Augustus said. "It's nice to see the debut of Mao in NCAA singles, Katja make her second singles appearance, and we're happy to see Lan get her first postseason appearance as a senior and only second year on our team, along with getting the doubles bid."The Bears' strong representation at the NCAA individual championships is a testament to the depth and talent of the program, and it will undoubtedly serve as a platform for the team to showcase their skills on the national stage.
