With just 2:10 left, Staunton's freshman Trioux Williams hit a 3 to take the lead, but Harrisonburg answered with a bucket to go in front 41-40. A free throw by the Blue Streaks sealed their victory. Freshman Williams led Staunton with 14 points, while senior Avian Fields had 11 points and eight rebounds. Staunton coach Donta Robinson admitted that the team was trying to force a turnover before fouling and took the blame for losing track of the clock. Missing 12 free throws, including 2-of-11 in the second half, also proved to be a significant issue.
