OF Kemp Alderman – Miami Marlins

Kemp Alderman, a once highly touted slugger from the Magnolia State, has truly had a breakthrough in the professional ranks. During his junior campaign, he was a national champion and was selected in the 2nd round of the 2023 MLB Draft. That season, his power was on full display as he slugged over.700 and posted an OPS of nearly 1.150, hitting 19 home runs. While his first season of pro ball had mixed results, there is still potential for him to reach the AA level. Additionally, he received an invitation to the prestigious Arizona Fall League. In the Arizona Fall League, Alderman found his rhythm at the plate against some of the top pitching prospects. Over nine games, he slashed.306/.375/.833, posting an OPS of over 1.200 and hitting six home runs. These are astonishing numbers that have earned him a spot on MLB Pipeline's All-Arizona Fall League Team. According to MLB.com, Alderman is ranked 12th among the Marlins' prospects. Given the lack of power and overall offensive talent in the Marlins' big league lineup, if he can carry over his form from the fall into the minor league season, there is a chance he could make it to the majors next season. We will be cheering him on every step of the way.

Gunnar Hoglund and Doug Nikhazy

Alderman wasn't the only Rebel with big news. Gunnar Hoglund and Doug Nikhazy, the former dual aces, have also achieved significant milestones. Hoglund is now a member of the Oakland A’s and Nikhazy of the Cleveland Guardians. Their addition to the 40-man roster paves the way for them to compete for a big league roster spot during this year's spring training. Both former Rebels had their best seasons of pro ball last year and climbed to the AAA affiliate of their respective organizations. According to MLB.com, Hoglund is ranked 12th among the A’s prospects and Nikhazy at 24th. Rebel fans know the talent these players possess, and it is only a matter of time before we see them take the mound in the big leagues. The anticipation is high as we wait to witness a "famous DOUG Day" in the majors.
