Two Purdue Women's Basketball Stars Inducted into Indiana Hall of Fame

Kelly Komara and Melina Griffin have achieved a remarkable feat by being named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Komara, currently an associated head coach on Katie Gearlds' staff at Purdue, had an extraordinary high school career at Lake Central. She amassed an astonishing 1,478 points, 356 rebounds, 435 assists, and 334 steals in just four seasons. Her contributions were truly outstanding.
Honors and Achievements
After her senior season in 1997-98, Komara was bestowed with the title of Indiana Miss Basketball and received the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year award. This recognition solidified her status as one of the top basketball players in the state. She then committed to playing college basketball at Purdue, where she became a part of a national championship team in 1999. During her four-year career in West Lafayette, the Boilermakers had an impressive 112-22 record. Komara ended her time at Purdue with 1,266 points, 446 rebounds, 402 assists, and 297 steals. She earned All-State honors in 1992 and scored 1,274 points during her time in high school. She committed to playing college basketball at Purdue and in four seasons with the Boilers, she totaled 366 points, 314 rebounds, and 136 assists.
